So-makchang & Samgyeopsal: A Night at Daejijip

Following the narrow alleys of Yangchon, I found a spot that truly defines "local." Daejijip(돼지집) is a humble place, but its menu speaks volumes.

The simple yet solid menu at Daejijip.

I ordered one serving of So-makchang(소막창, beef abomasum) and one serving of Samgyeopsal(삼겹살, pork belly). The clean, empty grill was ready for the feast.

Ready for the charcoal heat.

Soon, the meat was placed on the grill. The contrast between the rich Samgyeopsal(삼겹살, pork belly) and the chewy So-makchang(소막창, beef abomasum) was already promising.

The perfect duo: Samgyeopsal(삼겹살, pork belly) and So-makchang(소막창, beef abomasum).

The table was packed with everything from Gyeran-jjim(계란찜, steamed egg) to seasoned Sigeumchi(시금치, spinach)Kongnamul(콩나물, bean sprouts), and even roasted Gim(김, seaweed). It was a colorful, balanced meal.

The So-makchang(소막창, beef abomasum) was the highlight. Dipping it into the special sauce brought out a deep, savory flavor.

The sweet and salty dip that completes the flavor.

With such good food, the Soju(소주, Korean distilled spirit) went down easily. Before I knew it, we had finished three bottles of Jinro.

As I stepped out, I spotted a local cat loafing near the entrance. It was the perfect cozy end to a satisfying local dinner.
