Dwaeji-galbi at Heungbugol in Yangchon-eup, Gimpo
A review of the domestic Dwaeji-galbi(돼지갈비) at Heungbugol(흥부골) in Yangchon-eup(양촌읍), Gimpo(김포). An honest account of the meat quality, side dishes, and the grilling service at this Ganghwado(강화도) branch.
Heungbugol(흥부골), which is known to be famous in Ganghwado(강화도), also has a branch in Yangchon-eup(양촌읍), Gimpo(김포). On the menu, Dwaeji-wang-galbi(돼지왕갈비) is listed as imported, while Dwaeji-galbi(돼지갈비) is domestic. I chose to order the domestic Dwaeji-galbi(돼지갈비).

The raw Dwaeji-galbi(돼지갈비) appeared more like pork neck than the actual rib portion. This restaurant offers a service where the staff grills the meat for you. However, the grilling skill seemed a bit clumsy, as many pieces of meat fell out of the grill during the process.

Once cooked, the Dwaeji-galbi(돼지갈비) tasted like any other average pork ribs. The Doenjang-jjigae(된장찌개), which was ordered separately, also offered a very standard flavor without any particular highlights.

While I visited once out of curiosity, it is not a place I plan to return to.
