An Unexpected Gastronomic Journey: Dolhareubang in Gimpo

1. Awakening the Senses with Jeju Flavors (제주 흑돼지의 풍미로 깨어나는 감동)

At Dolhareubang(돌하르방) in Yangchon-eup(양촌읍)Gimpo(김포), I discovered an unpredictable journey of taste. The rich flavor of Jeju black pork and the warm glow of the fire awakened a strange yet beautiful emotion within me. Every moment spent here felt like a precious discovery. Located at 1764-8, Gimpo-daero, this restaurant offers more than just a meal; it provides a sensory experience that stays with you.

2. Starting the Grill with Ogyeopsal and Pork Skin

The meal began with high-quality Ogyeopsal(오겹살) and Dwaeji-kkeopdegi(돼지 껍데기). The first two thick slabs of Ogyeopsal(오겹살) were placed on the grill, followed by the remaining portions. The quality of the meat was exceptional, promising a flavorful feast. Accompanied by various side dishes, the table was quickly filled with an array of appetizing colors and scents.

3. The Secret of Yeontan and Savory Kongbiji

As the Ogyeopsal(오겹살) grilled to perfection, a secret was revealed: Mel-jeot(멜젓) hidden inside the Yeontan(연탄) briquettes to boil. This traditional way of heating the sauce adds a deep, smoky flavor. Along with the meat, the savory Kongbiji(콩비지) stew and a bottle of Soju(소주) made the meal complete. The harmony between the smoky pork and the rich bean stew was truly impressive.

4. The Grand Finale: Sae-u-gui and Buttered Delight

The second half of the journey featured Sae-u-gui(새우구이). It is important to note that the table setting for grilled meat and shrimp is different, so they cannot be eaten simultaneously. The shrimp were large and satisfying, whether simply grilled or prepared as a savory butter-grilled dish. Peeling the perfectly cooked shrimp one by one was a joy in itself, especially given their impressive size and freshness.

5. Honest Review and Three Bottles of Soju

Overall, the quality of the pork and the size of the shrimp were highly satisfying. The side dishes were also excellent, making it a place I would visit frequently if it were closer to my home. To complete the experience, I enjoyed a total of three bottles of Soju(소주). It was a day filled with precious discoveries that I will remember for a long time.
